In this article we want to flag that Tripadvisor differentiates from other sources when it comes to reading the KPI 'New Reviews' in Loopon. The main difference (and the reason for posting this article) is that Tripadvisor does not provide an exact checkout date for guests - only the month of the guests visit, and the date when the review was written:

How does this affect the data in Loopon?
All Tripadvisor reviews are automatically registered in Loopon with checkout date on the 1st day of the visit month that Tripadvisor send us.
Example: all guests that stayed at Sea Hotel Kattegatt in March and leave a review will have the checkout date 1st of March in Loopon. All guests that stayed over in November and leave a review will have the checkout date 1st of November in Loopon.
This is nothing new: this setting has been the same in Loopon since the start, and has not changed now either. It is set up this way because Tripadvisor does not provide exact checkout dates.
How does this affect results in Loopon and what do you need to be aware of?
Initially when opening the Reputation tab, the KPI (New Reviews) shows the number of reviews that has been submitted by guests in the last 30 days (unless you actively change the date interval): 5 new reviews in the example below.
Although, when you filter on Tripadvisor reviews only on the Feedback tab and choose 'All Recent Messages: 30 days rolling) you will likely see a different number: 1 review in the example below. This is because the data on the Feedback tab (as well as all other statistics in the system) is based on Guest Checkout Date (which Loopon does not receive from Tripadvisor).
Examples from the Reputation tab and Feedback tab for the same period: 2025-01-15 to 2025-02-14

Both are correct:
- According to the data Loopon get from Tripadvisor, 5 reviews has been submitted in the last 30 days.
- And, Loopon has registered 1 checked out guest in the last 30 days: Checkout date 1st of Feb.
This might seem confusing, but we can easily quality check this on the Feedback tab by extending the date interval from 1st of January (as an example) to include a longer time period. In this example below, you will see:
- 6 reviews whereas the last one in the image (Anna A) was submitted on 1st of January.
The one above from Arunab M (together with the reviews above) was submitted on the 1st of February and later. This leaves 5 submitted reviews within the Last 30 days (2025-01-15 to 2025-02-14).
- 1 checked out guest only within the original search 2025-01-15 to 2025-02-14.
The last checkout before Michelle was in January (automatically 1st of January in Loopon).
The above is purely for your information and for you to be aware of this special case. It requires no action from your side (apart from doing the quality check above if needed to ensure you are onboard with what you're seeing). We are just asking that you keep this in mind!
We do understand that seeing the same search with different outcomes (and that both are yet correct) can be confusing but if you have any follow-up questions or need further clarification - please contact support@loopon.com.
