A competitive set (comp set) is a group of competing hotels that can be created to obtain benchmarks on Loopon standardised questions and Online Reputation sources.
The picture shows how it looks in Loopon when you compare your hotel to two competitive sets and the market (all Loopon customers) based on the questionnaire results (NPS is only included in the post-stay surveys).
For results based on the Loopon questionnaire, Loopon shows aggregated results for the entire group/competitive set instead of displaying results per hotel in the competitive set.
Requirements for competitive sets
There are four rules for how to create a competitive set:
- Percent check: No single venue or brand (e.g. Scandic Hotels, Strawberry, Thon Hotels, etc.) may account for more than 50% of the total number of rooms supplied by the reporting venues in the specific competitive set, excluding the rooms supplied by the venue selecting the specific competitive set.
- Company check: No single company (e.g. Strawberry, Scandic Hotels, Thon Hotels, etc.) may account for more than 60% of the total number of rooms supplied by the reporting venues in a specific competitive set, excluding the rooms supplied by the venue selecting the specific competitive set.
- Minimum number of venues: The competitive set must include at least four venues (excluding the venue selecting the specific comp set and other venues from the same company).
- Minimum number of companies: Competitive sets must include a minimum of two companies other than that of the venue selecting the specific competitive set.
To show the mean values of the competitive set's Loopon scores (meaning based on questions from the questionnaire, and the fact that the hotels have the same questions), two requirements for validity must be met:
- Minimum number of answers: Each hotel in the competitive set must have at least 10 answers and an answer frequency of at least 2 % for the selected time period. In this case, the answer frequency refers to the total number of answers divided by the total number of checkouts.
- Loopon users: All hotels in the competitive set need to be using Loopon for the scores to be displayed.
To create your own competitive set, email a list of hotels to support@loopon.com and we will add it to your list of competitive sets as long as it follows the guidelines on this page.
Please note that the Reputation Tab in Loopon will not showcase any data unless there is a compset in place.
